Reporting a crime

If you've been the victim of a crime it's really important to report it. Sometimes it’s not easy to decide to come forward but if no one reports a crime, it’s as if it never happened and the criminal is free to commit more crime, damaging more communities and individuals.

It’s also important to report crime for your own practical purposes, like getting a crime number from the police so that you can make an insurance claim.

There are many ways of reporting a crime, 3 of which are listed below:

1. Contact your local Police Station on 0845 045 45 45 or 999 (for emergencies only) or visit the Hampshire Constabulary website

2. Contact Crimestoppers anonomously on 0800 555 111 or visit their website.

3. Using the new 101 Service, which is a new 24-hour number provided by the police and local council to deal with community safety issues, including certain non-emergency crime, policing and anti-social behaviour.   For further details on this non-emergency number visit their website.
